Reger Cemetery Preservation Services, LLC
Lorton, Virginia
Mission:
To preserve the memories of individuals, in families and communities, for the descendants, researchers, and cemeteries ensuring that the deceased are not forgotten to time.
Services:
Documenting: The most important part of preservation in a cemetery. Before any stone is touched, there needs to be a written record. If something happens, general wear, the stone is moved, or becomes lost or illegible, a written record is necessary. Future preservationists/conservationists can know what was done in the past in order to repair, put back in place if it had been moved, or if necessary, to create a replacement.
Leveling: To straighten a leaning, tilting, or sinking stone for safety of the public, as well as, safety of the gravestone.
Repair: Broken gravestone repair, re-pinning, and resetting.
Cleaning: When necessary to make the stone legible, not to make the stone look new.
Cemetery Assessments: Creating a full report on the history, conditions of all stones, vegetation, and potential hazards. This includes the cost of repair, information to use for grant applications, budgeting and recordkeeping.
